PROGRAMMES ORGANIZED BY SABHA

The Managing Committee of the Sabha strives to have a year round calendar of programmes catering to all sections of the Community.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

The records reveal that the Sabha convened a Dassera Sammelan on 19.09.1935 as an early attempt to have a religious-cum-social get-together in those days. A musical programme of Late Shri L. R. Kamath , popularly known as ‘Harmony Appa-mam’ was held on that occasion.

“Sita Apaharan” enacted during Gudi Padva programme on 20.04.2003

This tradition of holding programmes which promote social interaction continues till date.  Annual Gudi Padva Sneha Milan is celebrated on the Kreeda Mandir Grounds, in which a cultural programme is organized and the traditional Gudi Padva Dinner is served with Khotto, Tendle Bibbe Upakari, Madagane etc.

THE G.S.B. TALENT RECOGNITION AWARD

On a suggestion and initial donation made by Shri K. M. Kamath, the Sabha added one more feather to its cap by instituting the G.S.B. Talent Recognition Award to honour personalities from our Community who have excelled in fields of arts, fine arts and literature.  The first felicitations were made during Gudi Padva Sneh Milan 2006.  Uptil now, Sabha has felicitated the following personalities :

1. Shri Vijay Ajgaonkar

2. Shri K. G. Kamath (Gopi-mam)

      ADHYATMIK PROGRAMME IN ENGLISH

Br. Sattvika Chaitanya from Chinmaya Mission at the Annual Adhyatmik Programme in English.

The first Adhyatmik Shibhir was held by the Sabha on 19th January, 1992.  This was followed by an  Adhyatmik Shibhir in English which was held on 11th October, 1992, in which a talk was given by Dr. Shantanu Nagarkatti.  This has proved to be a very popular programme and is being held every year.  Smt. Sanjivi Bhat, ex-President of the Sabha, has been sponsoring this programme

since 1995.  Recently, she has also donated an endowment so that this programme could be supported financially in the long run.  A well wisher co-sponsor has also given long term financial support for this programme.  Besides, contribution is invited from sevadars for the years programme. Usually, we invite speakers from Chinmaya Mission, Ramakrishna Mission etc. for this programme, which concludes with Bhojana Prasad.

PICNIC FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Senior Citizens Picnic to Harigrama, Panvel.

The first picnic for Senior Citizens was organized on 20th March, 1994. This was a variation to the earlier pattern of holding seminars/talks.  Since then, the picnic has been an annual feature and young senior citizens enthusiastically participate in the games, quiz, skits etc. Among the notable picnics, was the one organized on 6th February, 2005, which had the highest ever participation

of about 200 members and places of religious interest were visited.  The Sabha is grateful to Shri G.S.Bhat for his initial sponsorship support and to Shri K. N. Shenoi for his present sponsorship support to this activity.

 SATSANG SAMUHA

On a suggestion made by our ex-Trustee, Late Shri M. R. Pai, the Sabha started a Satsang Samuha under the convenorship of  Shri N. G. Pai.  The first Satsang was held on 1st  February, 2003.  The group meets once a month and discussions are held on Shrimad Bhagvad Gita and Shrimad Bhagvatam.   Anniversary programs are held in every February.

It is heartening to note that this activity has continued un-interrupted for past 7 years.
